Michael Thomas is a writer and video journalist based in Santa Cruz, California. This spring, he filmed and produced a 30-minute documentary on the plight of Nepal's Asian one-horned rhino. He has a strong background in print journalism. As Managing Editor of The Post starting in 2004, he revitalized and expanded two local news publications. He directed a growing stable of freelance and staff writers, while also establishing content goals and writing the paper's feature stories. Michael has a stong connection to the Asian subcontinent, having lived and worked for extended periods in both Japan and Nepal. He holds a degree in Anthropology from Pomona College in Claremont, California, where he began to cultivate advanced technical skills in audio and visual media. Michael has experience as a camera operator in documentary, commercial corporate and narrative settings. His focus is on Steadicam operating. He enjoys winsurfing along California's Central Coast. |
